Launched in January of 2017, The JLGS Little Red Bookshelf program re-circulates gently-used children’s books back into the greater Springfield community where they are made available free for families to own.
Working in collaboration with the Davis Foundation and Reading Success by 4th Grade, the Junior League has established 6 bookshelf locations within the community and are seeking to grow and mobilize our outreach. To date, JLGS members have collected and bookplated thousands of books. We host an annual spring drive with Reader to Reader, but collect from community donors year round. Our dedication to literacy, and knowing that these books line our JLGS red bookshelves just waiting to be taken home and read by children is awe-inspiring! |
We currently have six bookshelves placed throughout the community at the following locations:
1. Hampden Probate and Family Court, Springfield 2. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, Springfield 3. High Street Pediatric Practice, Springfield 4. VOC, High Street, Holyoke 5. Holyoke Housing Authority, Maple Street, Holyoke 6. Holyoke Childrens Museum If you are interested in donating books or would like to host a drop off location, please fill out your information below or email [email protected] |
